When you download operating system software, such as Windows or Linux varieties, it usually comes as an ISO image file of an optical disc (CD or DVD).  Normally, you then record, or "burn" the ISO image to a recordable optical disc (CD-R, DVD-R, or DVD+R), so you can install or launch it.  Here's how:
