USA Genealogy Research Links.

  1. Ancestry: Though it does provide a few free searchs, it is primarily a pay for ancestry research site.
  2. Church of LDS National Family History Center: This test site provides searches for ancestral files.
  3. Church of LDS Santa Rosa/San Rafael Family History Center: This site lists the fiche, cd roms and books available at the Santa Rosa Center.
  4. Cyndi's site: It provides 90 subject categories of links to genealogy sites on the net.
  5. Family treemaker: Research site for people who use this software. Through its software links and cds, you have access to 325 million names.
  6. Family treemaker Finder: The family finder provides many valuable links and can search the GenealogyLibrary.com. for ancestral leads and data.
  7. Freespace Virgin Net: Idt list links to sites which have searchable data bases.
  8. Genealogy.com: This free site allows you to trace family using a fine-tuned internet genealogy search engine. An excellent starting place.
  9. Genealogy Home Page: Site gives links to libraries, genealogy societies, mailing lists and family history centers. It is updated daily. Click Genealogy Anonymous FTP for free genealogy software and shareware.
  10. Genealogy Toolbox: Done by the authors of Genealogy Onlines for Dummies. It has 45,000 links to surnames sites.
  11. Genforum: This free site is the largest genealogy message board site allowing you to share work and information with other genealogy enthusiasts.
  12. National Archives: Aids and guides to US National Archives and Records.
  13. Newberry Library: A fairly new site with some sections still under construction. It is especially helpful if you are looking for families from New England and colonial America.
  14. Roots: A Southern California genealogy page which hosts Gen Web.
  15. Sonoma Genealogy Center: Site displays a number of excellent genealogical links.
  16. US Bureau of Land Management: Site posts images of original documents for land sales made East of the Mississippi River.
  17. US Gen Web Project: Site for a voluntary organizations working to provide genealogical information for each state and county in the USA.
  18. St. Louis County Library: Provides jumps to a list of MO & ILL web sites, MO gen web project, ethnic sites and MO tombstone transcriptions project.
  19. Treasure Maps: IA good site for a genealogy beginner. It gives 5 steps for getting started and includes a tutorial on the Family History Library in Salt Lake City.
  20. World Gen Web Project: If you are researching your emigrant ancestors, then this is a must-see website.
